Join Ester Ohman as you explore the energy, movement, and rhythm of the human figure through quick gesture studies with a live model. This class emphasizes capturing the essence of a pose rather than its finer details, using a series of one-, two-, and five-minute exercises designed to strengthen observation, build confidence, and encourage expressive mark-making.
Students are welcome to work in sanguine, charcoal, pen, or any preferred medium that allows for fluid, intuitive drawing. Throughout the class, participants will focus on line quality, weight, proportion, movement, and the overall gesture of the figure.
Designed to develop your skills over six weeks, this weekly class offers the opportunity to deepen your practice over time. Attend a single session or join us for the full series—whether you're a seasoned artist or picking up a sketchbook for the first time, you are always welcome at ArtLove Salon.
Ester Ohman is a Swedish-American classical realist artist specializing in figurative drawing and sculpture. She studied at Gage Academy of Art in Seattle, where she received rigorous atelier training in academic drawing and painting, and is continuing her education in sculpture at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. Ester has also furthered her studies through intensive workshops at the Grand Central Atelier in New York. Drawing from the classical tradition, she emphasizes observation, gesture, and structural understanding of the figure. Her classes encourage students to work with confidence, looseness, and curiosity while building a strong foundation in figure drawing.
